How did Nixon contribute to the world?how did people react to his leadership?

He was he first US President to visit China thus opening relationships with China. He also tried his best to improve relationships with Russia and trying to make the world a better place because at that time Russia was a very unstable nation. Except the whole incident with the Watergate he was overall a good President. I do not think that present day Presidents would have sponsored for countries that were surrounding Vietnam during the Vietnam war like Laos for people that were getting bombed and caught between fire as well to come to US
