We've been adoptive parents, and just had contact with our son's first parents...?

My husband ped away this morning, and a little out of desperation, I called our son's first parents, who we'd had little contact with since the birth of their daughter the past year (our son is now 2). It went good, and they're wanting to see him. Do you think I should have called? I'm curious what others would have done, and I'm out of my head right now.
